Large corporate acquisitions and divestitures require careful analysis. We typically find that many businesses know the target, understand the value drivers and have a well-constructed model to support the transaction. Transactions can propel a company’s strategy and growth to a new level; or drag earnings as synergies and growth fail to materialize. The difference between success and failure frequently revolves around the quality of the due diligence and the people involved. We frequently find however that management can be over stretched to meet aggressive timelines, and need additional resources to support due diligence and integration.
